The US Evacuated Over 13,000 People From Afghanistan Since Mid-August

Afghanistan Evacuations

Addressing the process of evacuating from Afghanistan, President Biden said that around 13,000 individuals have been evacuated since military airlifts started. Biden also stated that the US administration helped to evacuate “thousands more” with the help of private flights.

The US is doing everything possible to offer safe evacuation to its Afghan partners, allies, and Afghans that might get targeted as they are associated with it. Biden also stated that he could not promise that the final upshot of the situation would be without possible loss. Nevertheless, in the capacity of being Commander-in-Chief, Biden stated that he could assure people that he would mobilize all the necessary resources.

As of August 20, 2021, Biden stated that the United States of America has continuously been contacting the Taliban, ensuring that there could be safe evacuations. Biden described the evacuation mission in Afghanistan as a tricky and dangerous military operation. Biden stated that nobody could see the horrific photographs in Afghanistan and not even feel the pain of its people. Up to 6,000 American troops are performing their jobs in Afghanistan.

California Responds To Commotion In Afghanistan

Addressing the situation in Afghanistan, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom said that the state already works to welcome people from the other nation as refugees. As for Newsom, California is a refuge state. Newsom takes pride in the reality that California has welcomed more refugees as compared to any other US state and that Northern California has an Afghani refugee count that is disproportionate. During his recall campaign rally, Newsom said that California works with non-profits and CBOs to ensure that the refugees feel celebrated and welcome as its community members.

Los Angeles has held weeklong vigils in memory of the people who died during the recent evacuation processes in Afghanistan. The community members mourned the death of those people with signs that read ‘Free Afghanistan’ and “20 years, for what?”

In What Way Did The Evacuations Start?

Earlier this August, Biden stated that the Taliban was told that there would be a strong and swift military response to any attack. By August 16, 2021, events had escalated as Afghan leaders ran away from the nation, contributing to the failure of its military. About the failure, Biden commented that US troops should not and could not fight and die in a conflict that Afghanistan’s forces are unwilling to fight.

Addressing the country, Biden stated that when the armed forces of Afghanistan would not step up, it is not right to order US troops to do so. Imagine a situation where political leaders cannot join forces for their own people’s sake or negotiate for Afghanistan’s future. In this serious situation, Biden stated that they would not have done it, even as US troops stayed in Afghanistan with the worst case of fighting for those people.
