Now You Can Safely Scream On California’s Roller Coasters

Some reports said that California would prohibit people’s screaming when on a roller coaster ride. However, those news reports do not match the California Attractions and Parks Association’s latest regulations.

Theme parks in Southern California are working to reopen their guest attractions like roller coasters. Therefore, the Executive Director of CAPA, Erin Guerrero, stated that the regulations do not make it necessary for parks to ban screaming.

There are concerns that actions like screaming, heavy breathing, and singing may increase the chance of the coronavirus disease transmission. Anyhow, California’s government noted that amusement parks addressed the concerns before it announced the reopening processes.

Guerrero said that the venues have taken care of it. If a person wears a mask, them shouting would result in the PPE kit element holding the droplets. The venues have been prepping to reopen since the closing processes started, said Guerrero. He also noted that the parks have established best practices from other such venues that managed to open again.

Furthermore, going by the Responsible Reopening Plan of CAPA, mitigation efforts are being made with curated roller coaster seat loading. That process will result in guests being a distance away from each other and facing in a single direction.

There is still a facemask mandate in California. So, every theme park guest and employee will have to wear it always, except for when they eat or drink in designated places.

Orange County and Los Angeles are in California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy’s red tier. Therefore, amusement parks like Six Flags, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Disneyland are allowed to open again from April this year.

Six Flags will start its roller coaster rides again from April 01 for its season pass holders and its members, and from April 03 for others.

Disney will reopen its California-based adventure park and Disneyland Resort on the last day of April 2021.

While Knott’s Berry Farm is yet to announce when it would reopen its attractions, it will host its Boysenberry festival through to May 02, 2021.
