How Indoor Vaccine Orders In Los Angeles City And LAC Differ

On October 06, 2021, Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti passed a vaccine ordinance requiring vaccination proof for indoor public space admission. The Los Angeles indoor vaccination ordinance will be effective on November 04, 2021, and may impact many LA business locations.

Los Angeles County (LAC) has set its own indoor vaccine ordinances that affect LA city, but the order that Mayor Garcetti signed does not apply to the whole county.

The LA indoor vaccine ordinance will be much more restrictive as compared to the order of LAC. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors or Public Health department has not indicated that it would do the same thing as the city.

When it comes to LAC, Pasadena and Long Beach have their public health departments with the authorization to make their own ordinances, but they often act as per Public Health.

There have been vaccine ordinances that affect state staffers, mega-events outdoors, and county workers as well. However, here, we will pay attention to the indoor public locations. With that in mind, the main differences between both ordinances for vaccination proof for admission into the locations are as follows.

LAC Vaccine Ordinances For Indoor Locations

The ordinances that blanket the whole Los Angeles County (LAC), which includes LA city, have been effective since October 07, 2021. The orders from the LAC Health Officer require a negative coronavirus test result or proof of COVID-19 vaccination for admission into the following locations. It is worth noting that the result must be of the test performed 72 hours before the request for admission into the locations.

  • Bars
  • Nightclubs
  • Lounges
  • Breweries
  • Wineries
  • Mega events with over 1,000 attendees at indoor locations, including sports arenas like The Forum, Staples Center, and even entertainment venues like the Pantages Theater and the Hollywood Palladium. When you plan to watch a big event like an LA Lakers match, a play or a concert, the officer ordinance would possibly apply to you.

LA City Vaccine Ordinances For Indoor Locations

All the above-mentioned situations for LAC, apply to the City of Los Angeles. In addition to that, the ordinance effective from November 04 will increase the number of locations where the test result or vaccination proof will be necessary.

Whether or not they are vaccinated, patrons may access these locations briefly to use their restrooms or make payments for and pick up their orders. If they access the locations otherwise, they could face up to about $5,000 as fines.

The indoor ordinance affects many different locations in LA city, including areas like downtown LA, Echo Park, Hollywood, and Silver Lake. The ordinance may affect the indoor types of the following locations as well.

  • Restaurants
  • Cinema halls
  • Gymnasiums
  • Nail bars
  • Barbershops
  • Hair salons
  • Piercing studios
  • Tattoo parlors
  • Cosmetology centers
  • Esthetician service locations
  • Massage therapy centers
  • Museums
  • Spas
  • Dance studios
  • Yoga studios
  • Shopping malls
  • City facilities

Around 78% of individuals in LA County have got at least a dosage of a coronavirus vaccine, whereas 69% of the county’s population is fully vaccinated.
