Los Angeles County registered 2,551 coronavirus disease cases on July 21, 2021, which is its highest single-day count since February this year. As per the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, there has been a twentyfold spike in the COVID-19 case count in a month. On the said date, 213 individuals were also hospitalized with coronavirus disease in LAC, a figure that has risen to 585 at the time of writing this.

The Department stated in its recent coronavirus update that individuals aged below 50 years constitute 83% of the newly reported cases. Unvaccinated people are the most in danger of being infected with the coronavirus. Unvaccinated grown-ups who have some medical conditions or are older are most likely to develop severe coronavirus disease.

If the earlier COVID-19 restriction system of California was in effect, then LAC would have been in the so-called purple tier. As a more restrictive tier for residents and businesses than others, it would have forced many indoor operations to close down.

There have been over 1,000 coronavirus cases per day over the past two weeks, with a positivity rate of 5.2%, up from the 0.7% that existed before.
