COVID-19 Test Positivity Rate Lowest In LAC Since Epidemic Started

Los Angeles COVID-19 vaccine.

Los Angeles County registered a mere 1% coronavirus test positivity rate on April 16, 2021, its lowest rate of infection since this epidemic started. The highest rate of novel COVID-19 test positivity in LAC is 20% from last December.

On the whole, the US county has registered an 18% COVID-19 positivity rate from 6,272,000 administered tests since the onset of the epidemic.

Positive cases may have come down in the US county, but COVID-19 hospital admissions started increasing in that April week. There has been a gradual rise in the hospitalization count since April 12, 2021. As of that date, there are 512 hospitalized individuals, 24% of whom are in the ICU.

The county has administered up to 323,470 dosages of coronavirus vaccines in that week, in spite of a national pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine dosages. In the third week of April 2021, Los Angeles would get 362,000 dosages, up from 39,000 the week before.

California would expand the eligibility for the vaccination to people aged 16 years and above. Therefore, a 68% coronavirus vaccination would happen to individuals who require a first-time dosage, whereas it would be 32% for the second-timers.

Further dosages will be allotted to the federal vaccination venue in California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA).
